About Sandlot America!
"Your Amateur Baseball & Fastpitch Softball Connection"
WHAT IS SANDLOT AMERICA ALL ABOUT?
Sandlot America was originally founded as a baseball tournament in 1995 in sunny Florida. Mitch Sacks, its creator had envisioned a tournament that would be held during the Christmas holiday season in Florida, attracting teams from all over the country. That year we had 72 teams playing five divisions for the week long tournament guaranteeing all teams with five games and a max of seven if they got to the finals. Sandlot America fulfilled this role for two years.
Sandlot America then entered its second phase. Sacks created the Sandlot America publication in January 2003, which covered the grass roots of baseball and fastpitch softball at the amateur level. In January 2004 Sandlotl America kicked off the first season of the online publication. The publication stopped in December 2007.
Sack's ultimate goal is to create a premier baseball complex for amateur players. All diamonds wouldl feature grass infields with lighting and all top of the line amenities so that it would attract teams and tournaments from all around the country. With these amenities the complex would be able to host major tournaments for all age levels. This would include youth, high school and adult baseball. Sandlot is in the process of looking at a couple of facilitys that would make a good home for SANDLOT AMERICA UMPIRE ASSOCIATION HEADQUARTERS
Sandlot America is looking to start hosting tournaments for the 2012 season to raise money for Charity as a way of giving back to the community.
